It’s Friendship Friday! This is the day to focus on giving back or paying it forward.
My mom taught me to be kind especially to the ones that are not. “It is easy to be kind to those that already are. The ones that need it often are the least deserved.”
Do you struggle with this? Being kind to those that are mean to you? I can empathize with you.
While it doesn’t make it any easier it still needs to be done. If I am nice to someone having a bad day I have to remind myself that maybe I am the one that will turn their day around.
I looked up the history of the “pay it forward” clause and this is the earliest quote I found concerning just this.
“Apparently, the phrase goes back to 1916 when Lily Hardy Hammond wrote, “You don’t pay love back; you pay it forward ,” meaning that you should repay kindness shown to you to people other than the original benefactor.”
Lily Hardy Hammond was an author that touched on subjects that were generally not talked about. Her most popular authored piece is called “In the Garden of Delight”.
So while you are encouraging a difficult person pick up a copy of her book.
Happy Crafting!
With inky fingers,
Joni 🙂
